Freshman Families Volunteer on 9/11
With the Freedom Tower and the Manhattan skyline serving as a backdrop along the horizon, ninth graders and their families worked the urban farmland on Governor's Island on September 11, 2016. Friends Seminary honors the 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance every year by hosting a social breakfast in the Library, followed by a day of volunteerism. This year, 60 freshmen and parents traveled to Governor's Island to work with nonprofit partner Earth Matter at their urban farm and composting learning center.
