Food for Friends

PHOTO OF THE WEEK | FEB. 7-13
Through the Food for Friends program, students in all three divisions packaged around 200 lunches (more than 700 pounds of food) this school year for nonprofit partner City Harvest. The meals packaged at Friends Seminary end up all over the five boroughs: at homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and other locations.

Other recent food-related service learning projects at Friends include a Grade 5 compost initiative; the weekly event organized by and for Friends students to encourage the proper recycling of green and organic waste. Additionally, the cafeteria staff provides food (every night of the school year) for the residents of the Friends Shelter — a number which totals roughly 2,700+ meals yearly.
