A Holiday Tradition

Join Us for Our Annual GLWD Service Project

Friends Seminary and God's Love We Deliver celebrate 24 years of partnership this holiday season. Each year in early December, members of the Friends community decorate more than 1,000 bags with holiday messages and imagery. Next, the bags are hung in the Fifteenth Street Meetinghouse by Parents Association volunteers. The colorful bags transform the historic Meetinghouse into a winter wonderland for the remainder of the month until they are removed on the Friday before Winter Break, and donated to God's Love We Deliver. The staff at GLWD fill the bags with meals and deliver them to men, women and children living with life-altering illnesses.

Organized by the late John Jones, a beloved art teacher at Friends, the bag decorating tradition began in 1992 at Friends and has since spread around the city with several other schools participating.

Friends was honored by GLWD in celebration of GWLD's 30th anniversary celebration. Click here to read more.
