Samara '22 To Represent NY In The Youth Leadership Program

Samara '22 will be representing New York in a competitive annual leadership program held by the Federal Bureau of Investigation this summer. The Youth Leadership Program (YLP), supported by the FBI National Academy Associates, recognizes a selection of international high school students who demonstrate high academic standards and good citizenship.

YLP is designed to offer lifelong enrichment opportunities in support of exceptional young leaders' drive for knowledge and their desire to make a difference in the world. The vision of YLP is to develop an influential community of socially conscious and service-minded leaders, connected through association who positively shape the world.

The 8 day program consists of intensive instruction at the FBI Academy training facility in Virginia. Students focus on building leadership skills and develop critical thinking of contemporary law enforcement and issues facing young people today.

Applicants undergo a rigorous nomination process that begins with recognition by their local FBI National Academy Associates chapter. Students must demonstrate superior communication skills, a high grade point average, and good citizenship to be considered for the program. This year, only 2 individuals from New York State and Canada were accepted.

Samara explains, “I am honored to be a part of the FBI’s Youth Leadership Program because I am very interested in the criminal justice system and this program will give me a unique perspective on it.”
