Award-Winning Creatives

Congratulations to Sascha '26 and Sam ‘23 for earning regional recognition from the NYC Scholastic Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. This is a remarkable achievement for both students. Their work was recognized by a panel of creative professionals as the most outstanding work submitted among their peers. Since 1923, the Awards have recognized some of America’s most celebrated artists and writers while they were teenagers, including: Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, and Andy Warhol.

Sascha ‘26 was awarded a Gold Key and a Silver Key respectively for her poems, Trees and the Sea and Slanted Roof.

Sam ‘23 was awarded two Gold Keys, two Silver Keys, and an Honorable Mention. His work, Mask, is was on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in an exhibition that features more than 500 works of art and writing by New York City teens who received the highest regional recognition in the 2023 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
