Friends Welcomes New Middle School Head

The Friends community welcomes Pankti Sevak, the School's new Head of Middle School. Pankti is currently head of grades 8 and 9 at Brearley, where she has taught science since 2001. We welcome her to Friends and look forward to her years of service.
Dear Friends,

This is an announcement that I am very pleased to make: Pankti Sevak will be our next Head of Middle School.  As you may know, Pankti is now head of grades 8 and 9 at Brearley, where she has taught science since 2001. Before that, Pankti taught at the East Side Community High School and did research through various fellowships, including one at Rockefeller University.

At Brearley, Pankti has taught science in all divisions, including 4th and 6th grades, Biology and Chemistry. In her administrative role, she is in charge of all elements of the lives of 8th and 9th grade girls, including transition, admissions, discipline, academic progress and parent relations. She is the architect of Brearley's travel study program to India.

From a rich pool of candidates, Pankti emerged as the search committee's first choice and enjoyed broad support throughout the process from all constituencies. We welcome her to Friends and look forward to her years of service. Pankti, with the generous support of the Head of Brearley, will begin the transition process this spring, spending several days in April and May with us.

I'd like to thank all of those involved in the search: the Committee; PA officers; students and all others who participated.

All best,
Bo Lauder
Principal
