As is the case in most summers, things are quite busy here at Friends Seminary preparing for students and faculty to return. At the center of this summer's projects is the renovation of the cafeteria.

After seniors and lower schoolers left messages of thanks and goodbye on the old cafeteria walls, demolition began and was fast and furious! Within days, the space was stripped down to its structural elements. With all the interior walls visible, the space looks tremendous!

The wall with arches separating the Lower School side from the rest remains, even though the first arch will be enlarged to offer easier entry into the servery area. You will also see in the photos areas of excavation, which was needed to fix the uneven floors and to run new piping. That soil hasn't seen the light of day in over 150 years!
