"We prepare students to engage in the world that is and to help bring about a world that ought to be."

Anne Boster

Minute of Appreciation
Anne Boster
Teacher of Foreign Languages, Teacher of Fiber Arts
Faculty Emerita

Anne has introduced generations of students to the rudiments of French and Spanish, and to the intercultural aspects and joys of foreign language. A proponent of "teaching your strengths," Anne has also brought her talents in fiber arts to Middle School students.  Born in Germany during the war years, she moved to England, and then to the United States. Her richly textured voice echoes the geographic history of her early years; her voice journeys from language to language with facility and delight. Anne found a home at Friends Seminary where she credits the trust of her colleagues and the inspiring "air of freedom" at the School with garnering the satisfying personal and professional growth she has experienced during her years on East 16th Street.  We express heartfelt gratitude for the breadth and depth of service Anne gave to Friends Seminary and are proud to honor her as Faculty Emerita.
