Friends Seminary recognizes the importance role parent partnership
plays in educating the whole child. With that in mind, the School believes it is important that parents new to Friends receive an orientation to the philosophy and pedagogy of a Quaker school. Our community’s culture is strongest when every member understands and embraces the testimonies and practices that our school upholds. Quaker testimonies of integrity, equality, peace, simplicity, stewardship, and community are interwoven into all aspects of a student’s experience at Friends. These core values are fully manifested through Quaker practices such as reflection, service, diversity, decision making, dialogue, and a Friends approach to learning. Come learn what makes a Quaker education unique and how these core values are infused in the classroom, our communal Meetings, our interactions with one another, as well as the world beyond.

Friends Seminary will offer two parent orientation workshops this school year that will provide an overview of how our educational community is  informed by Quaker values. All parents are welcome to attend, however, we ask that all parents new to Friends attend one of the orientations. In November, we will offer an evening orientation session and then in January we will offer a morning session. The dates, times and locations for the orientation sessions are listed below. Drew Smith, Executive Director of the Friends Council on Education will be joining us for these orientation sessions.
