Service & Remembrance

Families Volunteer at Governors Island
With the Freedom Tower and the Manhattan skyline serving as a backdrop along the horizon, ninth graders and their parents volunteered on September 9, 2017. Every year, Friends Seminary honors the 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance by organizing a family day to give back for the grade. This year, 75 freshmen and parents traveled to Governors Island to work with nonprofit partner Earth Matter at their urban farm and composting learning center. Besides supporting the nonprofit's mission, the event is a great way to meet up with old friends and make new ones. View photos here.
