Students Tour Award-winning Architecture Studio

As part of Grade 1’s study of New York City architecture, the class visited SHoP Architects' studio for a tour and a 3D printing demonstration.
As part of Grade 1’s study of New York City, the class visited SHoP Architects' studio, located in the Woolworth Building, originally the tallest building in the world. Students were able to connect their prior classroom experience creating models of buildings and famous landmarks in New York City to real-life examples of the challenges in architecture and design.

In the words of the Grade 1 students:

“While at the ShoP Architects, we learned about how buildings are designed. We saw models of buildings that appear all over the world. They even had a 3D printer that makes miniature models—while we were there it made a plastic squirrel. We all sketched buildings and enjoyed looking at blueprints. We had a lot of fun—it’s a COOL office.”

Special thanks to Emilia’s parents for coordinating this class trip to their office.
