This trimester the scientists will create crazy chemical concoctions through the exploration of all spheres of Chemistry! We will put scientific methods and theories to the test as we create crazy concoctions. We will make everything from Oobleck to Heat-Sensitive Slime! Do you know that you can write secret messages on slime? What about making slime that contains worms? We will explore the magical world of science as we dissect an owl pellet to determine what our mascot had for dinner. Want to explore the world of physics as we launch marshmallows with our extraordinary catapults and build our own rockets? Shakespeare Players: The Tempest

Young people become confident with Shakespeare’s world, language and characters as they learn how to interpret a role with technique and courage. Classically trained professional actors assist the players in their physical, vocal and emotional transformations. “O, wonder! How many goodly creatures are there here! How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world, That has such people in't!” What happens when a band of royals, a goblin, a sprite, a banished duke and his daughter are shipwrecked on an enchanted island? Come be a part of this hilarious and heartfelt adventure! Class runs over two trimesters, and culminates in a final performance. Class will end at 5:00 PM.

Join us as we use the “magic” of theater to explore this Wizarding World. Using the Harry Potter series as a springboard, we will generate original scenes for a final showcase. Ice Skating at Chelsea Piers

With Loop Sports

Loop Sports for Kids is brought to you by former Gil Sports for Kids coaches Chrissy Guerrero, Pascal Desmangles and Rob Cherry. The focus of this class is to make ice skating fun in order to build a happy and healthy athlete. We provide D.O.T. certified and inspected school buses on Fridays from Friends Seminary to Chelsea Piers and then we drop off at your home or office in Manhattan between 5:30-6:00 PM. We provide admission, ice skates and helmet rental plus a lesson for all the children. Lessons are divided into appropriate age groups and skill level. After the lesson the coaches skate with the children around the ice. We are off the ice by 5 PM and on the buses to go back home around 5:15-5:20 PM. Due to an ice rink conflict there will be no class on 2/21 but children can attend a different FAT class on that day.

Through independent explorations, students will continue to build their programming and design skills. Possible projects during the second trimester include coding with HTML and CSS, Exploring Dash and Dot and Cue robots, using Micro:bit chips to create magic wands with LED lighting, and programming a Raspberry Pi to keep track of the health of plants. Students will also have the opportunity to explore the applications of Adobe Creative Suite. As they make discoveries, participants will be encouraged to create new projects and games that help that help raise awareness about social issues or contribute in a positive way to their community. For this F.A.T. activity, a strong understanding of fundamental programming concepts is required.

Registrations are due November 20, 2019. Any registrations received after November 20 will be processed only if space remains, and a Late Registration Fee of $25 will be assessed.
If payment in full is not received prior to the start of the trimester, December 9, a $25 late fee will be added to your account.
Phone registrations will not be accepted.
For your convenience we now accept credit cards: checks are no longer valid.
Tuition aid is available to those who receive aid for the academic year.
After December 20, refunds or credits will not be given for changes to enrollment status.
Classes may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment.

If a child is picked up late more than twice in a trimester, the school has the right to refuse to accept that child in the Extended Day Program.

Drop-ins are available for Early Bird, F.A.T. Activities and Extended Day.
Please send a note to your child’s teacher indicating a change in dismissal and that they will be dropping in to afterschool.
In addition to the dismissal note, please fill out our drop-in request form by clicking here.
This form must be filled out by 1:30 PM on the day of your drop-in. We will invoice you with the cost of the class; payment is expected within 7 days of billing. When your child arrives at FAT, we will give them the choices of that day's available classes.
