Super Scientists will investigate, imagine, and create through the exploration of Chemistry! We will explore the world of chemical reactions and determine the mechanism in which slime forms! Scientists will be making chalkboard slime, color changing slime, and magnetic slime, to name a few! Each scientist will put the scientific method to test to determine the best recipe to make the BEST type of slime! Science is always full of surprises and we can’t wait to share all of these exciting experiments and more with our SUPER SCIENTISTS!

Hogwart's School with Childs Play New York

Grades 2-4
Join us as we use the “magic” of theater to explore this Wizarding World. Using the Harry Potter series as a springboard, we will generate original scenes for a final showcase. Kids will get to hone their writing and improv skills as they create plays based on their favorite iconic characters or imagine new ones in this magical world. In addition to the acting work, we’ll play games of Quidditch, make spell books and compete for the House Cup. Jump on your Firebolt and let’s play! Class will end at 5:00 PM

This dog training class teaches the best ways for us to communicate with our furry friends. Using positive reinforcement as our foundation we will learn how to communicate with all different ages, breeds, and training levels of dogs. By designing enrichment toys for pups, making homemade dog treats, learning traits of different dog breeds, and teaching real live puppies new tricks, we will bridge the gap between pups and kids. Our goal is to have everyone leave with a better understanding of how fun and effective play, positive training, and problem solving can be when building relationships with all animals!

While learning Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of motion, we will build and launch our very own rocket! We will build a telescope and use it to model out very on solar system! Scientists will build their own metal detector as they prepare for their journey to space. We will explore the world of physics as we embark on our mission through outer space.

With Tekintellect

This program uses fun elements that help children learn different skills. This program can be extended to include language, literacy and social science skills addition to sciences. LEGO® WeDo™ Construction kit will be used to design interactive machines with two sensors. The students will learn how to program them on the computers using the drag and drop coding software like Scratch (An open source MIT developed software for children for animation, games and storytelling). The program will give the students an opportunity to explore their creativity and let them put to practice the engineering rules that they have learnt. Robotics with LEGO® WeDo™ helps children create real life models in a simple way.

Open the door to a magical world of boundless creativity and imagination. By learning to think outside the box, students will discover the skills that make up every magician's toolbox such as sleight of hand, psychology, misdirection, and showmanship. This program has been honed over many years and aims to inspire the next generation of thinkers and creators. Mini Musical: Frozen Adventures

With Child’s Play NY

Students will “Let it Go!” in this musical theater class that will have them singing and dancing their way into winter! Drawing inspiration from the original Snow Queen fairy tale as well as the popular film Frozen, kids will generate their own original script. Theater games and improvs will have them racing reindeer, building snowmen and belting out loud to save the kingdom from an everlasting winter! Their story and songs will be presented in a show on the last day of class.

Through independent projects, students will continue to build their programming and design skills. Possible projects this session include programming the Micro:bit chips with Python or Makecode to play music, light up a dollhouse, or simulate the natural world. Students  will also have the opportunity to explore the applications of Adobe Creative Suite. As they make discoveries, participants will be encouraged to design new projects that help that help raise awareness about social issues or contribute in some positive way to their community. For this F.A.T. activity, a strong understanding of fundamental programming concepts is required.

Shakespeare in the Park with Child’s Play NY

Grades 5-6
Students jump into the worlds of Shakespeare in this robust mash-up of improvisation, classic text and popular music. Through dynamic games, students learn the plot and characters from a Shakespeare play. They rehearse and memorize scenes from the original text and devise their own material as well. Additionally, each rehearsal involves singing from pop-music cannon with a live accompanist. The songs, chosen by the cast, add a contemporary score to their show and highlight the universality of Shakespeare’s themes. We will rehearse in the open air in the park - weather permitting - and in the blackbox theater.   Note that this class has a two trimester commitment. Final performance for 1st and 2nd trimester is at the end of the second trimester.  Class will end at 5:00PM.

Registrations are due September 4, 2019. Any registrations received after September 4 will be processed only if space remains, and a Late Registration Fee of $25 will be assessed.
If payment in full is not received prior to the start of the trimester, September 11, a $25 late fee will be added to your account.
Phone registrations will not be accepted.
For your convenience we now accept credit cards: checks are no longer valid.
Tuition aid is available to those who receive aid for the academic year.
After September 25, refunds or credits will not be given for changes to enrollment status.
Classes may be canceled due to insufficient enrollment.

Late Pick-up

If a child is picked up late more than twice in a trimester, the school has the right to refuse to accept that child in the Extended Day Program.

Drop-in Info

Drop-ins are available for Early Bird, F.A.T. Activities and Extended Day.
Please send a note to your child’s teacher indicating a change in dismissal and that they will be dropping in to afterschool.
In addition to the dismissal note, please fill out our drop-in request form by clicking here.
This form must be filled out by 1:30 PM on the day of your drop-in. We will invoice you with the cost of the class; payment is expected within 7 days of billing. When your child arrives at FAT, we will give them the choices of that day's available classes.
