Health and Wellness

Our Health and Wellness program aims to prepare our students to make well informed choices that support their personal health and wellbeing as well as advocate for the health and wellbeing for the community at large.  We will address our students physical health, mental health, sexual development, social relationships, and personal identity while promoting the values of:

  • Health & Wellness 9

    Health & Wellness 9 is a semester-long class that is required for all 9th graders in either the spring or fall semester.  The course addresses social and personal development. Classes will provide facts and in-depth conversations about street smarts and internet safety, self awareness, self-image as well as sexual development and identity. Class topics also include the concepts of self-esteem, maintaining healthy bodies (including the development of efficient sleep and nutrition habits), practicing healthy communication, relationships, substance use and mental health.

    2 or 3 periods/cycle
    One semester course (Fall or Spring) – 1 credit 
  • Health & Wellness 10

    Health & Wellness 10 is a semester-long course required for all 10th graders in either the spring or fall. The course challenges students to dive deeper and explore their personal and social health in their community and more globally. Students will evaluate the impacts of health through self reflection and group discussions as they learn to prepare themselves physically, mentally, and socially.
