Friends Seminary (or the "School") respects the privacy of every individual who visits the Friends Seminary campus and website. This privacy notice demonstrates our commitment to your privacy and outlines the information that Friends Seminary may collect about you from your visit to this website, and how this information will be handled.

This site was created to enhance levels of communication between the School and our students, parents, alumni, employees, and prospective students and parents. All content within this website (including, but not limited to, text, graphics, photographs, video, and audio) is owned by or under the control of Friends Seminary, and you will not in any way reproduce, modify, move, add to, delete, or otherwise use without authority the information contained within this website, except as may be expressly authorized on the website.  

The site is protected by one or more copyrights, database rights, and/or other intellectual property and proprietary rights that are owned by Friends Seminary, our affiliates and/or third parties. Friends Seminary and other names and indicia of the School and our products and/or services are exclusive trademarks and service marks of Friends Seminary. Other product and company names appearing on the site may be trademarks of their respective owners.
 
Friends Seminary reserves the right to modify the policies outlined on this page at our discretion. By using the Friends Seminary website, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not accept the terms and conditions given here, you must exit the website immediately.
 
Collection of Personal Information
 
As a general visitor to the Friends Seminary website, Friends Seminary tracks the pages viewed on our website to evaluate web performance records. During this time, no personally identifiable information (your name, phone number, e-mail address, etc.) is collected unless you knowingly submit it to the School. The School respects your privacy and is fully committed to ensuring the confidentiality of all personal information you share with us.
 
Friends Seminary only places internet cookies on devices of members of the School community who have registered with Friends Seminary and been assigned user IDs and passwords. Cookies help the School determine whether someone has logged in properly as well as store user preferences for features like customizable calendars.

When you visit the School, we may collect certain personal data to identify you and maintain records of individuals on-site for security and emergency purposes. This may include, by way of example:
  • Name, telephone number, email, government issued ID, and other contact information
  • Portrait photo taken for Friends Seminary visitor badge ID
  • Images captured by the School's CCTV system

Use of Personal Information
 
Any personal information voluntarily submitted to Friends Seminary signifies an interest in the School and may be used accordingly for mailings, announcements, databases, and other school-related purposes. Friends Seminary will not sell, rent, or market personal data about you to third parties, except for third party partners as described below.
 
Online Community Participation
 
As a Friends Seminary student, parent, alumnus/a, or staff member, you will be assigned a School User ID to access the password-protected community. One of the functions of the community is to serve as an online directory, enabling members to access personal information such as phone numbers and addresses. You may access and update your personal information at any time. You may also opt out of sharing your personal information with certain constituencies. For assistance with these processes, please email blackbaudhelp@friendsseminary.org. Any collection, use, or dissemination of other community members’ information outside of School purposes is prohibited.

Third Party Disclosure
 
Friends Seminary will not disclose your personal information to third parties for commercial use. However, to maintain the dynamic functionality of the online community, it may be necessary to allow third party partners to access certain relevant data. Third party partners are selected in part for their trustworthy security records.

European Union Users

Users of the Friends Seminary website and services from the European Union consent to providing information to the School for the sole purpose of the activity they are engaging in (inquiring about admission, applying for admission, mailings, announcements, databases, and other school-related purposes). The School will not use information provided for any purpose other than the one intended. Please see the European Union Privacy Notice: CLICK HERE.

Opt Out

Security
 
Friends Seminary and our third party partners take appropriate security measures to ensure the privacy of your personal information. The School’s online community is protected by industry-standard web-security technology. Please keep in mind that no internet or wireless network transmission is completely secure, and Friends Seminary cannot guarantee the privacy of these communications.
 
Furthermore, after issuing user IDs and passwords, Friends Seminary cannot control the dissemination of this information and, therefore, is not responsible if unauthorized access occurs. To protect the integrity of the School’s online community, it is crucial to keep your user ID and password confidential. Also, make sure you remember to log out from the community after every session, especially when using a public computer.
 
You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your password. You may not disclose your password to any third party. You must notify the School immediately of any actual or suspected loss, theft or unauthorized use of your password.  

The School is not obligated to inquire as to the authority or propriety of any use of or action taken under your password. Friends Seminary will not be responsible for any loss that may arise from use or action of your password or from your failure to comply with these provisions.
