Reckoning With American History with Stefan Stawnychy, History Department Chair.
What is American History and why do we need to reckon with it? Stefan Stawnychy will explore this central question by examining how the themes of Language, Memorialization, and Agency affect the ways history is created, understood, taught, and learned. Using examples from the classroom, Stefan will argue that taking this approach to understanding US History is essential in order for students to create a grounded context of national history from which to make sense of current affairs.
