Friends Participates in Open House NY Weekend
⁣Friends Seminary recently participated in Open House New York Weekend, an annual design and architectural event that offers a lineup of over 300 sites selected to help deepen our understanding of the importance of architecture and urban design. “Open House New York unlocks the doors to New York’s most important buildings, offering an extraordinary opportunity to experience the city and meet the people who design, build, and preserve New York. From colonial to contemporary, residential to industrial, hundreds of sites across the five boroughs are open to visit, with tours, talks, performances and other special events taking place over the course of the weekend.”

The School was honored to be included in this event in celebration of our reimagined campus. The conclusion of the redevelopment project creates a single accessible facility for our 779 students within our landmarked district. Friends designed an entirely new structure behind the facades of three 1852 townhouses and connected them seamlessly to the School’s main building. With progressive learning environments and extensive landscape and natural elements, this project integrates contemporary architectural solutions into the historic fabric of the campus.

Together with Kliment Halsband Architects, Friends offered tours throughout the weekend to a wide variety of guests. From neighbors, alumni, parents of alumni, and prospective students to fellow New Yorkers and tourists as far as Seattle and San Francisco, the campus was a flurry of activity and learning on a usually quiet fall weekend.

Friends thanks OHNY and District Coordinator, Gregory Jones as well as their wonderful team of volunteers in helping make the event a success.
