"We prepare students to engage in the world that is and to help bring about a world that ought to be."
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at Friends Seminary — our 233rd!

Founded in 1786, almost concurrently with the founding of our country, Friends has remained a steady beacon of education and values in New York City. As we celebrate this long standing commitment, we are mindful of our responsibility to continually nurture and grow our school.

As our students, faculty and administrative staff go about the important work of learning and growing together throughout this academic year, construction continues on the Townhouses — a key component of our Campus Redevelopment Project funded by our community members who are Lighting the Future for our students today and tomorrow. In addition to the completion of floors five and six in Hunter Hall last school year, our Sky Field — a turfed play and practice space atop the sixth floor — is now open. Additionally, a new gym floor, scoreboard and climbing wall have been installed, underscoring our commitment to physical education and student athletes. Learn more about how we are transforming our campus here.

While our ambitious Campus Redevelopment Project is strengthening our physical campus and its accessibility (100% ADA compliancy), our strategic plan, Reimagining This Place Called School, continues to guide us as we focus on collaborative learning, engineering and global education initiatives. I am also proud to announce that our all-school mission driven topic for this school year, led by the Center for Peace, Equity and Justice, is "Seeking Justice: The Ethics and Politics of Migration and Immigration."

This is an exciting time for Friends Seminary, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
