The Fund touches every part of school life. It bridges the gap between tuition and the full cost of a Friends education, sustaining a dynamic environment where curiosity, creativity, and integrity can thrive. When our community participates, we expand what’s possible. Every gift—of any size—moves us forward together and amplifies the impact we can make each year.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Fund for Friends support?
Annual giving touches every corner of school life, including financial aid, academic programming, mission-driven initiatives, faculty support, arts, athletics, and more. Every student and every teacher benefits.
Why is annual giving important?
Tuition covers most, but not all, of the cost of a Friends education. Annual giving bridges this gap each year, ensuring our students and educators have the resources they need to thrive.
Why is participation important?
High participation demonstrates the strength and unity of our community. When our families, alumni, faculty, and friends give, it reflects shared stewardship and deep commitment to the School’s mission.
How much should I give?
Every gift of any size has an impact. We encourage families and community members to give at a level that is meaningful and appropriate for them.
Can I make a pledge?
Yes. Pledges may be fulfilled throughout the fiscal year. All pledges must be paid by June 30.
Do you accept matching gifts?
Absolutely. Many employers match charitable contributions, and these gifts can significantly increase your impact. We encourage you to check whether your company participates. Click here to search for your employer!
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. Friends Seminary is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and contributions to the Fund for Friends are tax-deductible as allowed by law. You will receive a confirmation/receipt for your records.
When should I make my gift?
The Fund for Friends follows the School’s fiscal year, July 1–June 30. Gifts are welcome at any time, but early participation helps with planning and strengthens our community goals.
Can I give through stock, securities, or a donor-advised fund?
Yes. Many donors choose to give through appreciated securities or a DAF, which may offer tax advantages. The Advancement Office can provide simple instructions.
Can grandparents, alumni, and friends of the School give?
Yes. All who feel connected to Friends Seminary—grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni, and friends—are invited to support the Fund for Friends.
Can I designate my gift to a specific program?
Gifts to the Fund for Friends are unrestricted, so the School can meet its most pressing needs. If you are interested in supporting a specific program or initiative, the Advancement Office can help you explore options.
What’s the difference between the Annual Fund and capital or endowment giving?
The Annual Fund provides immediate, flexible resources that support the School each year. Capital and endowment gifts support long-term growth, facilities, and sustainability. Together, they ensure that Friends Seminary remains strong today and for generations to come.
